Training Event: Advancing CFD Through HPC

From October
14 to 16, 2025, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) hosted the EXCELLERAT
training on Advanced CFD and Turbulence Modelling targeting HPC, co-organized
with CECAM.
The course gathered master’s and PhD students, as well as professionals from
industry, to explore how High-Performance Computing (HPC) is reshaping
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Over three days, participants learned how
HPC enables more detailed and efficient simulations for complex physical
systems.
The programme combined lectures and practical sessions, covering topics such as
multiphysics and multiscale modelling, GPU programming, conjugate heat
transfer, and performance optimisation for exascale computing. The training was
led by instructors Charles Moulinec, Stefano Rolfo, and Wei Wang (UKRI–STFC),
Guillaume Houzeaux (BSC), and Yvan Fournier (EDF).
The event provided a collaborative environment where participants from academia
and industry shared ideas and experiences, highlighting the essential role of
HPC in advancing CFD research and applications.
