Understanding an unfamiliar codebase is a recurring challenge in scientific computing. In a blog article, CERFACS introduces WalkingPrompt: a workflow for code explanation assisted by language models that systematically traverses a repository, links dependencies, and generates structured summaries across modules and directories. By keeping the human developer in control, WalkingPrompt reduces repetitive effort, produces more consistent explanations, and creates a coherent first layer of documentation for large scientific codes, while addressing key concerns such as trust, privacy, and reproducibility.

EXCELLERAT CoE Featured at SLING Days 2025

Organised by the national competence centre NCC SLING, together with leading research institutions and European initiatives, SLING Days 2025 showcased the growing impact of advanced technologies on research, innovation, and industrial competitiveness. The event took place from 19-21 November in Ljubljana, Slovenia and in hybrid form, bringing together more than 700 visitors. EXCELLERAT was prominently featured through promotional materials and closed expert discussions. Partners from Arctur and UL-LECAD actively presented the core simulation and engineering codes being advanced within the project, while also directing visitors to explore the EXCELLERAT Service Portal.
